Games Day was a wonderful event. Team spirit was in the air. All three houses were
roaring to get started and hopefully win! There were three sports, basketball,
volleyball and football, each divided into girls and boys. Every year group played
two sports and each house played against both other houses.
Everyone was in cheering mood, whistles, banners, cheering and singing. If you were playing you couldn’t hear yourself think! It was all very exciting, especially for the Year 7s as we had only had the annual Sports Day in the lower school. We all joined in the commotion of cheering louder and louder. Maybe for the sixth form it wasn’t quite as exciting. In the end Austen won and to end a lively morning we all went back to school for a late lunch. We were even allowed to wear our house shirts and face paint! Tallulah, 7B
Games Day... everyone was nervous. Players showed their best on the courts and those in the crowd were enthusiastic supporters of their houses. It was a day to remember for Austen. The Austen Year 7 Boys won the football 3-0 against Darwin and 2-0 against Drake. I interviewed Paul S; ” We were the strongest team and with a bit of good luck as well we managed to achieve our goal” When the cup entered everyone was silent. In the reflection you could see three colours, red, green and blue. The final results were announced: “Third place goes to Darwin, second place to …Drake!!!” The whole house exploded with cheer. Green was everywhere!! To end a memorable day, there was an emotional moment when Mr. Bown announced that this was his very last Games Day… he was moving back to the UK the next week. This teamwork and atmosphere will last for a long time in our hearts and at least until next Games Day! Giacomo 7B
