In addition to the music making and instrumental teaching out of the classroom, within the classroom the school curriculum provides a structured musical education for all students at the Sir James regardless of individual’s prowess in performing. Everyone up to the age of 13 receives a specialist and rigorous musical education involving aspects of listening, performing and composing. After the middle school music becomes an option though many students choose this subject and develop their composing, performing, analytical and listening skill further. Some students continue with music right through to the final years of the International Baccalaureate and go on to study music at University or Conservatory level.
